The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved The Night Circus. It became a bit cumbersome toward the end but overall I just loved it so I hate that The Starless Sea was such a confusing read.

The main story is interspersed with fables – kind of like Moby Dock- a chapter following the storyline then a chapter on whaling. However, these are stories that are possibly true and a part of the “living book” that the main character, Zachary, finds at his college library.

Within the book, Zachary finds a chapter about himself as a child when he turned away from painted door on an alley wall that would’ve taken him into the adventure.

I honestly struggled to follow the plot and what the overall goal was. I found the details and information repetitive and unnecessarily long.
I honest am sad that I didn’t like this book. The characters and ideas were clever but it all seemed to go nowhere.
