The Fragile Nature of Things by Susan Meissner 3.5/5 ⭐️

“It is the nature of the earth to shift. It is the nature of fragile things to break. It is the nature of fire to burn.”

High drama and suspense. Irish Immigrant to NYC, Sophie, agrees to marry Martin Hocking sight unseen. She then boards a train to San Francisco where she meets Martin, marries him, then moves into a home with him and his daughter.

It is clear from the start that Martin is keeping secrets. Not only is it clear, it’s predictable. A woman living with a man she doesn’t know and secrets being slowly then rapidly revealed.

This book has a lot of drama and crazy twists and turns that made the story improbable but interesting and fast paced.
